✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A high‐resolution fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor system using a linear‐cavity fiber laser scheme is proposed and numerically studied. The proposed sensor system can improve the sensing accuracy by using a discriminating FBG pair in conjunction with a fiber laser scheme. This FBG sensor system can resolve the temperature up to 0.0005°C theoretically and can be applied for strain sensing and temperature sensing with high precision. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract An efficient linear cavity Brillouin fiber laser (BFL) is demonstrated using a standard single mode fibre (SMF), an optical coupler and a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). The laser peak is obtained at −4.5 dBm with a Brillouin pump of 14 dBm. The use of a 99/1 optical coupler shows the highes

## Abstract A simple switchable dual‐wavelength Er‐doped fiber‐ring laser using a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) written in high‐birefringence (HiBi) fibers is proposed. Due to the two‐peak reflections with orthogonal polarizations of the FBG, the polarization hole‐burning effect in the cavity is greatl

## Abstract In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a tunable dual‐wavelength fiber laser by using an external injection‐seeding scheme with a Fabry–Perot laser diode. The wavelength tuning range of this tunable dual‐wavelength fiber laser is 12.6 nm, and the optical side‐mode suppression ratio (
