Abstract
A leafโshaped monopole antenna with an extremely wide bandwidth is introduced. The antenna is composed of a leafโshaped metal sheet with three circular holes vertically mounted on the ground plate covered by a dielectric layer. Its measured โ10โdB returnโloss frequency range is from 1.3 to 29.7 GHz with ratio bandwidth of about 22:1. This antenna provides bandwidth covering the L, C, X, and Ku bands and exhibits a nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern with a simple structure, which is suitable for various military and commercial ultraโwideband applications. ยฉ 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
