Abstract

Quantum‐mechanical calculation of spectral intensity is done for the transitions from a particular vibrational level of the excited state E ^1^∏~u~ to the discrete vibrational levels and dissociative continuum of the ground state X^1^Σ of the Cs~2~ molecule. The results are compared with the observed spectra by referring to the conservation of nuclear kinetic energy during the electronic transition.
