In this study, a supersonic beam of NiF was produced by the reaction of SF 6 with a dc discharge-sputtering source of nickel atoms. The laser-induced fluorescence excitation spectrum of a 2 ⌸ 3/2 -2 ⌸ 3/2 transition has been recorded in the range of 500 -520 nm and rotational structure of 506.5-nm b

✦ Synopsis
Taking advantage of an improved experimental method. a new ({ }^{2} \mathrm{I}{3 / 2}-^{-2} \mathrm{\Sigma}\left(18145 \mathrm{~cm}^{-1}\right)) transition of (\mathrm{NiF}) has been rotationally analyzed. It gives a quantitative confirmation of the energy-level diagram published recently (C. Dufour, I. Hikmet, and B. Pinchemel, J. Mo/ Spectrosc: 165, 398-405. 1994). An already analyzed band has been identified as a ({ }^{2} \Delta{S_{/ 2}}{ }^{2} \Delta_{S / 2}) transition and assigned in the energy-level diagram. A table collecting all the parameters of the identified electronic states of NiF is included. 1994 Academic Press, Inc.

The A 2 P-X 2 S (1,1) band of ZrN between 5642 and 5879 A ˚has been studied using laser induced fluorescence spectroscopy. ZrN was produced by reacting vaporized ZrCl 4 with microwave discharged N 2 gas. All the 12 branches expected from a 2 P-2 S transition have been observed and assigned. Various
The A 2 ⌸-X 2 ⌺ ϩ transition of 174 Yb 35 Cl and 172 Yb 35 Cl has been rotationally analyzed for the first time. Doppler-limited laser excitation spectroscopy with selective detection of fluorescence was used to obtain spectra of the 0 -0 and 1-0 bands with a measurement accuracy of approximately 0.
Laser induced fluorescence of a fast ion beam has been applied to 13 CO / 2 for its (0, 0, 0) A ˜2P u -(0, 0, 0) X ˜2P g UV electronic transition. The high resolution (0.005 cm 01 ) of the FIBLAS method, due to a highly reduced Doppler broadening, allows us to evaluate the isotopic shift, to appreci
The visible spectrum of NiCl consists of a large number of bands. Laser-induced fluorescence experiments have shown that two intense transitions (21 910 and 21 750 cm Ϫ1 ) share a common [21.9] 2 ⌬ 5/2 upper electronic state. High-resolution Fourier transform spectroscopy has allowed the rotational
