Excitation energy relaxation ofN,N'-dioctadecylrhodamine B incorporated in Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers has been studied with a picosecond time-resolved fluorescence spectrophotometer. Relaxation of singlet excitation energy in a monomolecular layer was interpreted in terms of ( 1 ) energy migration

โฆ Synopsis
We report the behavior of nile red (NR) at the air-water interface and its incorporation in Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films mixed with a fatty acid. We also report the first observation of dual fluorescence emission from organized NR aggregates formed in the LB films and in binary solvent mixtures that may be attributed to the co-existence of two distinctly different species, one planar and the other twisted conformations of the NR molecule.

The functions of N-acylethanolamines, minor constituents of mammalian cells, are poorly understood. It was suggested that NAEs might have some pharmacological actions and might serve as a cytoprotective response, whether mediated by physical interactions with membranes or enzymes or mediated by acti
