✦ Synopsis

Excitation energy relaxation ofN,N'-dioctadecylrhodamine B incorporated in Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers has been studied with a picosecond time-resolved fluorescence spectrophotometer. Relaxation of singlet excitation energy in a monomolecular layer was interpreted in terms of ( 1 ) energy migration among different sites with a fractal-like distribution which are energetically or spatially disordered and (2) energy trapping by higher aggregates.
