โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Lโ€Asparaginaseโ€induced coagulation abnormalities were observed in all patients receiving this drug. All patients studied demonstrated low factor IX and fibrinogen levels and most (75%) had low levels of factor XI. Disturbances in other factors were much less frequent. Despite the presence of markedly abnormal coagulation studies, clinical bleeding was not observed.

## Abstract Four patients with acute lymphocytic leukemia previously treated with conventional chemotherapy received intramuscular Lโ€asparaginase in combination with other chemotherapy for reinduction and maintenance therapy. A remission-induction regimen for childhood leukemia using cyclophosphamide, asparaginase, vincristine, and prednisone (CAVP) was compared to standard vincristine-prednisone (VP) induction. The more intensive regimen was associated with a lower complete remission rate (81% vs 93%) and a higher early

## Abstract Ten patients with lateโ€stage acute lymphocytic leukemia were treated with Lโ€asparaginase and cytosine arabinoside. Complete remission was achieved in 8 patients including 5 of 5 patients with Tโ€cell leukemia. Major toxicity included anaphylactic reactions in 3 of the 10 patients.
