β¦ Synopsis
The kinetics of the reaction of CCI 3 with O(3P) have been investigated in a heatable tubular reactor coupled to a photoionization mass spectrometer. The decay of CCI 3 was monitored as a function of O atom concentration ([O]o/[CC13] 0 > 20) to determine the rate constant of the reaction as a function of temperature and pressure. The rate constant measured is independent of density and was correlated by the Arrhenius expression: (2.33 +0.74). 10 -11 exp[(1.66_ 1.05) kJ mol-1/RT] cm 3 molecule -1 s -1 over the temperature range 295-835 K. CC120 was detected as a product of the CCI 3 + O(3p) reaction.

## Abstract The reaction of hydrogen atoms with diazomethane was used as a source of methyl radicals to study the reaction of oxygen atoms with methyl radicals. This investigation verifies directly the earlier results that formaldehyde is a major product and that the rate constant is greater than 3
The exponential relaxation of CHI, produced by the reaction 0 + CzHa --+ CH3 + HCO, to its steady-state concentration was quantitatively monitored after the reactants were mixed. The relaxation profiles yield the rate constant of the reaction 0 + CH3 -+ HzCO + H equal to (1.85 f 0.28) X cm3/molecule
