✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The reaction of hydrogen atoms with diazomethane was used as a source of methyl radicals to study the reaction of oxygen atoms with methyl radicals. This investigation verifies directly the earlier results that formaldehyde is a major product and that the rate constant is greater than 3Γ—10^βˆ’11^cm^3^ molecule^βˆ’1^ sec^βˆ’1^.

## Abstract The reaction of O(^3^__P__) atoms with isobutane has been studied by using the discharge‐flow system described previously [1]. The rate constant was measured from determinations of the isobutane concentration in the presence of an excess of O atoms and is given by __k__~1~ = (7.9 Β± 1.4)

## Abstract The absolute rate constant for the reaction of methyl radicals with ozone has been measured as a function of temperature. Small concentrations of CH~3~ were generated by flash photolyzing CH~3~NO~2~ at 193 nm with an ArF laser. A photoionization mass spectrometer was used to follow the

The reaction between ozone and carbon monoxide was reinvestigated in the range of 80-160Β°C. The previously reported rate law -d[O,l/dt = k.[o,][Co] + k,[0,l2 was confirmed and simulated using a mechanism based on an impurity-initiated chain reaction. When the CO was sufficiently purified, k, tended
