✦ Synopsis


The oxidation of nickel, Ni with 0.5% Cu, Mu or Gr and with 2.5% Cr is investigated. Deviations from the psrabolic law in the case of pure Ni c8n be attributed to "8geing" effects in t,he oxide layer, and at temperatures above 950Β°C to the formation of a seoond layer under the first formed. Both Ni-Cr alloys showed periodic variations in the oxidation rate. These may be due to stress accumulations in the oxide layers. Las deviations par rapport a 1 loi parabolique relative au Ni pur peuvent btre attribuees aux effets de vieillissement dans la eouche d'oxyde et, pour 10s temperatures superieures a 95O"C, a la formation dune deuxieme couche sous la premiere form&. Les deux alliages de Ni-Cr etudies presentent des variations periodiques dans 18 vitesse d'oxydation. Ceci peut Btre dti aux accumulations de contraintes dans les couches d'oxyde. Abweichuneen vom narabolischen Gesetz in reinem Nickel k6nnen Alteruneseffekten in der Oxvdschicht ' Y zugesohrieben werden sowie oberhalb 950Β°C der Bildung einer zweiten &hioht unterhalb der ersten. Beide Ni-Cr-Legierungen zeigten periodische Variationen der Oxydsgeschwindigkeit. Dies kann auf Spannungskonzentrat#ionen in den Oxydschichten zuriickgofiihrt werden.

The reaction model for the reduction of NiO pellets by hydrogen has been postulated to consist of two simultane.ous reactions, first, a reaction between NiO and hydrogen gas adsorbed on NiO, and second, a reaction at the boundary between the two solid phases NiO and Ni with hydrogen adsorbed on nick
