โฆ Synopsis
Using a ZAB-2F double-focusing mass spectrometer together with an argon-ion laser, the kinetic energy spectra of N: photofragments from the photodissociation of N20+ have been measured at wavelengths 514.5, 496.5, 488.0 and 476.5 nm in the visible region of the spectrum. Energies released in the centre-of-mass frame of reference are given. From the results it is deduced that the states involved in the absorption and dissociation processes ar probably NzO+ (B % ) u2 3 and N,O+ (c 'Z + ) u>O, respectively.

The gas-phase ion-molecule equilibrium reaction N20++N20+M~NzO+N20+ M was studied as a function oftemperature. The enthalpy and entropy ofreaction, determined from the van 't Hoff plot, are: AH'= -18.5 + 0.8 kcal/mol and AS'= -25 + I A cal/mol K. The enthalpy of reaction reported here implies a mu
The electrostatic complex of Ni+ with a single nitrous oxide molecule, Ni+. N,O, has been studied by resonant photodissociation spectroscopy. Optical absorptions are detected via predissociation of the ion into Ni+ and N,O fragments. A cutoff in the resonant photofragmentation is observed below 1723
