✦ Synopsis

Bimodal kinetic energy release distributions (KERDs) were obtained for the metastable ion reactions: CH~C(OH)=*Ctl~ -L CHS + *CH$O+ and CH3CH2C(OH)=CIIz ---I+ 4 C-H; + CH$O+-The biilodality is attributed to incomplete intmmolecular energy redistribution in the short-lived internlediate keto ions, CH3COCH;?+ and CH3C11~COCH~~. respectively, formed en route to the dissociation products.

The mass spectrum was obtained for positive and negative secondary ions in a range of 0-100. 5. The degree of substitution of the gel was monitored by adding 0.05.-0.25 pCimL-' n-[l-'4C]-butanethiol (NEN) [14] or n-[I-"TI-butylamine (Hoechst AG) to the coupling mixture (as described in ref. [22]). T
