Rb 3 Sn(PSe 5 )(P 2 Se 6 ) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2 1 /a (14) with aโ€ซ)2(310.41ุโ€ฌ A s , bโ€ซ)8(6343.7ุโ€ฌ A s , cโ€ซ)4(389.12ุโ€ฌ A s , โ€ซ,ยฐ)1(16.601ุโ€ฌ Zโ€ซ,4ุโ€ฌ and R/R w โ€ซุโ€ฌ 3.5/4.4%. The one-dimensional structure features [Sn(PSe 5 ) (P 2 Se 6 )] 3nุŠ n chains with octahedral Sn 4ุ‰ . The neighboring Sn atoms are connected via tetradentate [P 2 Se 6 ] 4ุŠ units to form the chain. The [PSe 5 ] 3ุŠ act as chelating side groups employing the diselenide ''arm'' and one of the monoselenide atoms to coordinate to Sn. The compounds were characterized with differential thermal analysis, far-IR, and solid-state UV/vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy.

The reaction of one equivalent of In with a molten flux of (Ph 4 P) 2 Se 5 and P 2 Se 5 (1 : 2), at 250 ยฐC gave the (Ph 4 P)[In(P 2 Se 6 )] (I). Stoichiometric elemental synthesis at 750 ยฐC produced the Cs 5 In(P 2 Se 6 ) 2 (II). The thin, yellow crystals of (I), and the irregular, dark orange cryst
