✦ Synopsis
Oraposide and verbascoside are two phenylpropanoid glycosides which have a radical-scavenging activity. They are found in plants such as Orobanche rapum-genistae Thuill. High speed countercurrent chromatography has been investigated for the extraction of these glycosides from the crude plant extract using various two-phase solvent systems. Using the optimised system, each purified polyphenolic compound could be obtained following direct injection of a crude extract in a single run.
