✦ Synopsis

The fluorescence emission of pyrene end-labelled polyethyleneoxide samples (/Vl, = 0.16.104 1.95.104) has been studied in dilute solution at 20 Β°. Intramolecular "excimer" fluorescence of increasing intensity is observed with decreasing molecular weight. The influence of the molecular weight on the relative quantum yield of the "monomeric" pyrene groups has been analyzed according to the general kinetic treatment of diffusion controlled quenching processes.

The motion of a flexible molecule in solution can be described as a Brownian motion between the different conformations that the molecule can assume. Each conformation corresponds to a local minimum of the energy surface. A simple model is given for this type of motion in relation to nuclear magnet

Poly(OxyMethylene) (POM) and its miscible blends were studied by multifrequency A.C. dielectric and thermally stimulated currents (TSC). The blends contained small amounts of either poly(vinyl phenol), which is a high glass transition (T g ) diluent, or a styrene-co-hydroxy styrene oligomeric low T
