✦ Synopsis
The effect of ~,eral aminoglycmide (AG) antibiotic8 on aqueous muitilamellar dispersions of mixtures of phosphatid~linositoi (PI) and deuterated phmphafidylcholine (PC') has been studied by deuterium (2H) NMR. Isepandcin and amikachl gave rise to no significant changes in 2H-NMR fineshape relative to that of the lipid mixture without antibiotic. Both kanamycin A and B, which have a greater aflVmity for Pl than the other two antibiotics examined in this study, induced temperature-dependent changes in 2H-NMR lineld~q~es and a~ciated spectral moments. The results are consistent with an antibiotic-induced lateral phase separation giving rise to PC_.-enfid~ domains free of drug and PI-AG domains. These effects are correlated with the inhibitory potency of aminoglycusides towar~ PC degradation.

## Abstract The ^15^N NMR spectra of eight aminoglycosides were interpreted. The effect of mixing 20 mol.% of various aminoglycosides with phosphatidylinositol in aqueous dispersion was studied by ^15^N NMR, and correlations were found between the degree of interaction of the aminoglycoside for pho
Deuterium nuclear magnetic resonance (2H-NMR) spectra have been determined for 50 wt% aqueous dispersions of 1 -palmitoyl(stearoyl)-2-[2H3, ]palmitoyl-sn -glycero-3-phosphocholinc (PC-d 3 I) containing 20 tool% of the isoprenoid compounds phytol or phytanic acid over the temperature range -5--55°C.
The proton magnetic resonance (PMR) and phosphorus magnetic resonance (PhMR) spectra of egg phosphatidylcholine in the presence of l-anilino-8-naphthalenesulfonate (ANS) have been studied. At low ratios of ANS to phospholipid, the spectra indicate that ANS molecules are in the lipid interface region
