โฆ Synopsis
The interaction of zinc electrodeposited from an alkaline solution with a polycrystalline silver substrate is studied with cyclic voltammetry, muxoprobe technque and ellipsometry. Zinc forms alloys with the substrate r?ia diffusion. Two phases are identified: one as the s-phase (AgZn,) and the other as the C-phase (AgZn). A penetration coefficient (k) of 7 x IO-* cm2 s-' is calculated. Transformations into phases with lower zinc content take place continuously, probably resulting in the formation of the a-phase.
