In order to investigate a surface effect on flux pinning, transport critical currents Jยข of Nb and YBa2Cu3Ov\_z thin films have been measured in magnetic fields B parallel to the surface. It is found that in both fihns the magnitude of Jc changes when tile direction of the Lorentz force is reversed.

A new method of investigating the relationship between current density and the magnetic induction in Type II superconductors has revealed both microscopic and fairly long range variations, apparently arising from inhomogeneities in the samples. The method also permits direct observation of field dis
The hysteric magnetization curves of transport and grain currents are measured for a ring shaped sample by applying an a.c. magnetic field and using pickup coils. The dependence of the magnetization curves on the amplitude of the applied a.c. magnetic field can be explained by a simple model. This m
