โœฆ Synopsis

A new method of investigating the relationship between current density and the magnetic induction in Type II superconductors has revealed both microscopic and fairly long range variations, apparently arising from inhomogeneities in the samples. The method also permits direct observation of field distribution before and after flux jumps and during flux flow

We review the experimental and theoretical study of hysteresis losses, W,, in monolithic and isotropic type II superconductors subjected to an alternating magnetic field H,, or alternating current Z,, in the presence of a static bias magnetic field Hbias or bias current Ibias. Five situations are ad
