It was found that pressure has a strong influence on the critical current hysteresis loop of cerar01cs at H ~ I0 kOe. The phenomenon is attributed to the critical current hysteresis of separate Josephson contacts and is due to the Abrikosov vortex density gradient within granules. The gradient defin

โฆ Synopsis
In order to investigate a surface effect on flux pinning, transport critical currents Jยข of Nb and YBa2Cu3Ov_z thin films have been measured in magnetic fields B parallel to the surface. It is found that in both fihns the magnitude of Jc changes when tile direction of the Lorentz force is reversed. The "larger" Jยข produces the Lorentz force pushing the flux through tlle surface from the outside of the film to the interior. Furthermore, the "larger" Jc(B) exhibits a broad peak at a finite B value. The origin of the asymmetry is discussed on the basis of a potential acting on vortices in the thin films.
