The strong negative electrostatic field applied to the surface of a high-To superconducting YBa2Cu3OT\_a thin film has been found to increase the transport critical current density (Jc) in the vicinity of T~. Ion implantation of oxygen increases Jc but, after implantation, a decrease of the critical
