## R&d manuscript received 21 June 1974 Measkments of deay time, temperature dependence and spectrum of the fluorescence emission of vacuum-deposite+ tetracene f&ns are reported. It is concluded that the emitting species is a molecular pair in sandwich con-Iiguration. In general organic molecular
A study of photoenhanced currents {PECf in crystatline tetracene has been made. Using the well+stabiished theoF of space-charge controlled currents in insulators, it is shown that the quantum yield for the release of trapped carriers by triplet esfitbns is less thzm unity.
The magnitude and sign of the first excited triplet state Davydov splitting of the tetracene single crystaI has been calculated. It is found that the charge transfer contribution is dominant over the exchange integral and of opposite sign. Assuming a Frknck-Condon factor of 0.20 for the O-O transiti
