β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Raman and infrared measurements were performed on hydrated (H~2~O and D~2~O) and anhydrous (CH~3~)~2~NCSCOOK together with their CD~3~βsubstituted analogues. Close scrutiny of the water fundamentals indicated that the C~2__v__~ symmetry of the single water molecule is lost owing to different strengths of hydrogen bonding with the carboxylate and thioamide functional groups. The number of water fundamentals and the wavenumber and intensity changes at different temperatures are, considering the very complex structure of the water spectra, unexpectedly consistent with the predictions of a single asymmetric water molecule.

Micro-Raman and infrared spectra were recorded at room temperature for several silylated N-benzoylcytidine, -adenosine and -guanosine derivatives. The distinctions between 2ΒΊ-and 3ΒΊ-silylated N-benzoylribonucleosides isomers can be observed from Raman spectra (500-700 and 1050-1350 cm-1 for silylate
## Abstract Vibrational spectra of solid tribromofluoromethane at temperatures between 12 K and the melting point were obtained using Raman and infrared techniques, with special emphasis on the lattice modes. No evidence for a solidβstate phase transition was found. Lattice peaks are tentatively as
