โฆ Synopsis
The infrared and Raman spectra of (\mathrm{K}{4} \mathrm{H}{2}\left(\mathrm{~S}{2} \mathrm{I}{2} \mathrm{O}{14}\right)) were recorded and analyzed. Band assignments were made on the basis of the characteristic vibrations of (\mathrm{SO}{4}^{2-}) and (\mathrm{IO}{3}^{-})ions and (\mathrm{OH}) group frequencies. Bands indicate that the symmetry of the (\mathrm{SO}{4}^{2-}) ion in the crystal is less than its free ion symmetry. The trio bands, characteristic of strong hydrogen bonded systems, are observed in the infrared spectrum. The (\mathrm{IO}_{3}^{-})ions exist almost independently in the crystal. 01994 Acndente Press, Inc.
