## Abstract ## BACKGROUND Thymidine phosphorylase (TP) is identical to plateletβderived endothelial cell growth factor (PDECGF) and has angiogenic activity. Little is known about the significance of TP/PDECGF activity in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The authors examined the enzymatic
