Fluorine-graphite intercalation compounds have been synthesized using high purity fluorine gas and high oxidation-state transition-metal fluorides, AgF, and NiF,, at room temperature and at -78Β°C. At room temperature, a mixture of stage 1+2-4 compounds with compositions, r&F to C,,,BF were obtained.
The formation of amide bonds from the reaction of metal carboxylates with amines was observed for the first time; complexes of titanium(IV), zirconium(IVl and tantalum(\r) were investigated.
