I offer accolades to Jackson, Doster, Meadows, and Wood (1995) on presenting a study that used the rarely seen phenomenological approach of heuristics to examine a very important aspect of science education-the rejection of evolutionary theory. I agree with the authors that a greater understanding of students' views concerning creation and evolution are helpful for evolution educators, and it is in this regard that I wish to help. My comments are limited to the Introduction and Theoretical Background section of the article.
