โฆ Synopsis
A genomic (prbl) and two cDNA clones (PRbl-2 and PRbl-3) corresponding to two new barley basic PR-1 proteins (prbl-2 and prbl-3) were isolated from Hordeum vulgare. Genomic analysis of DNA suggests that the barley genome contains at least 6 members corresponding to the gene family encoding PR-1 proteins. Expression of these genes was induced in primary leaf tissues of the H. vulgare cv. Psaknon 4* (F14) Man. carrying Mlp resistance gene (cv. Mlp) and the near-isogenic susceptible cultivat (cv. mlp) after inoculation with Erysiphe graminis f.sp. hordei.

The amino acid sequences of two barley ribosomal proteins, termed HvL17-1 and HvL17-2, were decoded from green leaf cDNA clones. The N-terminal sequences of the derived barley proteins are 48% identical to the N-terminal amino acid sequence of protein YL17 from the large subunit of yeast cytoplasmic
A novel protein kinase homologue (KNS1) has been identified in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. KNS1 contains an open reading frame of 720 codons. The carboxy-terminal portion of the predicted protein sequence is similar to that of many other protein kinases, exhibiting 36% identity to the cdc2 gene produc
