✦ Synopsis

The alcohol compositions of the waxes of these birds are dissimilar to each other. The nhexadecanol is relatively abundant in the waxes of the hybrid a (7.5 %) and hybrid b (32 Yo), while it is scarcely existant in the waxes of their relatives -the Grey-lag goose and Canada goose. The 14-methyl hexadecanol is abundant in the wax of Canadagoose,while it is found in small amounts in those of the hybrids. The eheptadecanol, in small quantities, is perceived only in the waxes of the Grey-lag goose and the hybrid a. However the noctadecanol is abundant in all of the four waxes.

It is noted, that only four individuals of this type of bird were investigated, and that the hybrids had no direct h e a g e with the studied Canada goose and Grey-lag goose. Thus, the present carboxylic-acid and alcohol compositions should not be considered as the absolute characteristiclipids of these birds.

In the next works on Anserifonnes the birds of each species are to be selected according to their sex and age, and their uropygial gland wax analysed via a method similar to that described above.
