We report on a method to produce Sic whiskers without the presence of metal catalysts by reacting carbon nanoclusters with SiO at 1700Β°C. The dark carbon nanotubes with hollow cores are converted to solid greenish Sic whiskers. Electron diffraction and EDX con&m that the product is Sic with a single

In consequence of hydrogen formation during silane pyrolysis total gas volume increases, when the reaction proceeds at constant total pressure. Any mole of silane decomposed produces two moles of hydrogen. In the present paper expressions are derived for 1' ' and 0.5Ih reaction order describing axia
