โœฆ Synopsis

Tbe Sic, radical was found to be formed easily by the I93 nm photolysis of phenylsilane, both in the cell and molecular beam conditions. The reactivity of the radical in the ground state was quite low. Even in the electronically excited A state, it is inert towards saturated hydrocarbons. The rate of quenching by an unsaturated hydrocarbon, CZH,, is found to be 9.6 X lo-" cm3 molecule-' s-l.

Time-resolved absorption spectra of hesafluorobenzene vapor have been observed with ArF laser (193 nm) exitation. The initial intermediate is posrulated to be due to HFBi(S,) (hot he\afluorobenzene with internal energ of 639 kJ/mol) because the transient spectrum can be simulated as part of the S, (

The creation of electronically excited species by the 193 nm excimer laser photolysis of PC& and PBr, has been studied. In addition to halogen and phosphorus atomic lines, emission is detected from highly excited states of Cl2 and Br2, respectively, formed by a two-photon process. We also observe pr

The quantum state distributions of the C, radical from the UV multiphoton dissociation of allene and propyne in a pulsed molecular beam have been measured. The observed distributions for both molecules are identical and are much colder than a phase space model would predict, implying that direct dis
