Abstract
This article presents a new multiband antenna for handheld devices. The antenna consists of three branches of folded monopoles, and it is designed to operate at most application bands used currently, such as GSM 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS2100, and WLAN 5GHz. The simulated and measured results validate the proposed design. The proposed antenna has better performances than other embedded antenna designs of the same maximum dimension. ## Abstract This article presents a broadband folded planar monopole antenna suitable for DCS (1710β1880 MHz), PCS (1850β1990 MHz), UMTS (1920β2170 MHz), and WLAN (2400β2484 MHz) operations for mobile phones. In addition to the broadband operation, the proposed folded monopole has compact dimension
## Abstract In this article, we present an approach and design of a small antenna for slim handheld device applications. The basic antenna element is the monopole. The small size and the reduced effective antenna height are achieved from two folding approaches of this monopole. The first is in a th
## Abstract This paper presents a novel design for a lowβprofile planar monopole antenna. The proposed antenna is a rectangular planar monopole with folded end. Its total height is about 0.12 Ξ»~0~ (the freeβspace wavelength of the lowest operating frequency of the antenna), which is lower than othe
## Abstract A low profile planar antenna, comprising a driven element coupled with one or more parasitic elements is proposed. The design is suitable to be used into a handheld device due to the antenna reduced dimensions (33 Γ 15 Γ 1 mm^3^). To facilitate the integration of other components, such
## Abstract Folded monopole antenna loaded with the distributed inductors and capacitors is designed and characterized. The inductors and capacitor are realized by utilizing meanderline strips and the interdigitated structure, respectively. The resonance characteristics of the antenna are essentiall
