β¦ Synopsis
A metal-mediated addition of two carbenes across an alkyne is employed for the synthesis of (2-phenylsulfonyl)-1,3-dienes. Control of diene stereochemistry is achieved through an unprecedented fluoride-catalyzed isomerization of the cobalt diene intermediates.

## Abstract Copolymerization of heptaβ1,6βdiene with ethylene using a cobaltβbis(imino)pyridine complex affords a polymer that contains __trans__β1,2βfiveβmembered rings in the repeating unit from heptaβ1,6βdiene. The ratio of the repeating units of diene to those of ethylene is controlled from 3:
