VUV photolysis of 1% N20 has been carried out in Ar matrices at 125 nm. Excitation spectra obtained between 200 and 100 nm by monitoring the 1S ~ ]D emission of O at 560 nm, after constant intervals of photolysis, revealed a new band at 120.7 nm. This band has previously been observed during the pho

✦ Synopsis
Fluorescence spectra in dense potassium vapour induced by dye laser light tuned in the self-broadened wings of the first resonance lines were investigated. The main purpose of the present experiment was to study the nature of the diffuse band at 572.5 nm. We found that the peak fluorescence intensity of this band has a square dependence on the exciting dye laser's intensity. In addition to this, selected excitation spectra at different potassium vapour pressures have been measured.
