โœฆ Synopsis

The spectrum and lifetune of the IluoTescence from water soluble poly[4,6decadiyn-l,lO+ziiol-bigcarboxyl-methylurethane)] at three pH values (7.5,7-l, and 6.2) were measured at room temperature. At these pH values the lifetime was 9 k 3 ps and the spectrum was independent of the eyntation wavelength. Discussion was made on the basis of Fbrster-type energy transfer among the conjugated sequences of repeat units

The room-temperature lifetimes of ring-substituted excited diphenylmethyl radicals have been shown to correlate well with the energy gap between the fluorescent lowest excited doublet and the ground state. Attempts to correlate the lifetimes with Hammett constants were unsuccessful.
