โฆ Synopsis
The fluorescence from the second excited singlet state of pyrene and 3.4~benzpyrene in the vapour phase has been observed. The effect of inert gas, temperature and excitation frequency has been investigated. The estimated rate constants for the internal conversion and the reverse process far pyrene are 2 x 1012 s-l and lo7 s-l respectively.
