โœฆ Synopsis

The emission spectra of the second excited singlet state of [ 181 annukne and of monofluoro [ 181 annulene (m a 3methylpentanc glass at 4 K) are reported. The large ener,7 gap between the fist and second excited singlet states inhibits fast internal cogversion and favours the appearance of S2 + So emission. In addition, fluorescence from the S1 state can be observed in monofluoro [ 131 annulene by exciting into the Sz or directly into the S 1 absorption.

Fluorescence has been observed from the second excited singkt stste of tkiophosgene vapour. The emission is excited mainly by transitions originating in the out-of-plane bending mode of the ground stzte and terminating in the lowest vibrational levekof the-excited state. i '.
