โœฆ Synopsis

A computer simu!ation procedure has been applied to the fluorescence decay curves of pyrenc vapour, excited into the S, s?ate with short laser pulses. The resuits confirm that the kinetic model which has been used previously in order to describe the effect of vibrational redistribution on the fluorexence decay, is consis!cnt with the esperimentaI decay curves. A very sSort decay component (7 -^i 4 nscc) which appears whcr. the energy of the laser exceeds t.5 mJ is ascribed to doubly excited pyrene molecules.

The fluorescence decay of tryptophan zwitterion in Hz0 and D20 solution was determined over the entire emission spectrum. The biexponential decay kinetics show features which are consistent with the occurrence of an excited-state reaction. This observation is not predicted by models of tryptophan ph
