β¦ Synopsis
Fast atom bombardment (FAB), FAB mass-analysed ion kinetic energy (FAB MIKE) and collision-activated dissociation (FAB CAD-MIKE) mass spectra were obtained for two series of unsaturated anomeric aryl Cglycosides. These tandem mass spectrometric techniques allowed the differentiation of the anomers by analysing either the [M + HI + ion or the [ M + met] + ion (met = Li, Na).

The new technique of fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry has been applied to the investigation of a series of penicillins as free acids or as alkali metal salts. In all cases both positive and negative ion pseudomolecular species are observed giving molecular weight information. Additionally, si

## Abstract The fast atom bombardment (FAB), fritβFAB and electrospray ionization mass spectra of bisβammonium salts, C^2+^ 2X^β^, were compared. The most informative spectra were the FAB mass spectra with __m__βnitrobenzyl alcohol as matrix and the FritβFAB mass spectra. The nucleophilic character
