✦ Synopsis

Far-infrared spectra were measured for the sequential copolymers of amino acids with alkyl group side chains. The analysis of the spectra showed that (LAla-LAla-Gly),, (LAl*Gly),, (LAla-Gly-Gly),, (LVal-L-Ala-L-Ala),, and (L-Val-LAla), have the antiparallel pleated sheet structures and that the backbone conformations of (I.-Val-LVal-L Ma), and (L-Val-LVal-Gly), are the same as that of poly-Lvaline. The far-infrared bands characteristic of the antiparallel pleated sheet structure were assigned on the basis of the result of the normal coordinate analysis of poly-Lalanine with this structure. The intersheet and interchain spacings of the sequential copolymers with the antiparallel pleated sheet structure were determined from the x-ray powder-diffraction patterns of these samples.

## Abstract The values of maximum frequencies, intensities, and other spectral parameters of the main absorption bands of amino acid residue side‐chain groups have been obtained in the 1500–1800‐cm^βˆ’1^ region for solutions in heavy water at pD 1–12. It is shown that absorption of residues of aspara

## Abstract Ternary complexes of amino acids, Cu(II) and diimine ligand 2,2′‐bipyridyl (bpy) are obtained in the gas phase by electrospray ionization (ESI). The amino acids are found to bind to Cu(II) by their deprotonated carboxylate groups in the gas‐phase complexes. Collisionally activated disso
