Chiral discrimination of racemic carbazole carbonyl (CC)-amino acids with linear alkyl sidechain (C 1 -C 4 ) by bovine serum albumin (BSA) was investigated by competitive replacement experiments using dansyl-L-proline and dansyl-D-norvaline as fluorescent probes. It was found that the CC derivatives

✦ Synopsis
Far-infrared spectra in the region from 700 to 60 cm-l have been measured for the or-helix structures of poly (L-or-amino-n-butyric acid) , poly-L-norvaline, poly-bnorleucine, and poly-L-leucine and for the 0-form structures of poly(ba-amino-n-butyric acid), poly-L-valine, poly(DL-or-amino-n-butyric acid), poly-Dknorvaline, and ~O ~Y -D Lnorleucine. The changes of the spectra on N-deuteration have been measured in the region between 700 and 400 cm-1. It is concluded that the a-helix has characteristic bands near 690, 650, 610, 380, 150, and 100 cm-l, and that the p-form has characteristic bands near 700, 240, and 120 cm-1. The main-chain vibrations in the region from 600 to 200 cm-1 are strongly coupled with the side-chain deformation vibrations.
