✦ Synopsis

An efficient synthesis of novel ferrocene a-ketoamides is described. They were synthesised in good yields via a palladium-catalysed carbonylation reaction. The ratio of the main products and the ferrocene amides, obtained as minor compounds in most cases, depends on the catalyst and on the structure of the amine reagent.

AbstractÐSteroidal phenyl ketones were synthesised in high yields by palladium-catalysed carbonylation reactions of 17-iodo-androst-16-ene derivatives in the presence of NaBPh 4 under mild reaction conditions. Alkenyl bromides or enol tri¯ates gave lower yields in the same reaction.
