The excited singlet-singlet absorption spectra of s-tetracyaobenzene (TCNB) complexes with toluene and benzene were observed. The spectra were obtnined using the re-absorption of the CT fluorescence by the fluorescent EDA complexes produced densely by means of the excitation with a giant pulse Iaser

✦ Synopsis
New excited singlet-singlet &-St) absorption spectra were observed in the case of TCNB complexes with benzene, toluene as well as mesitylene, pyromellitic dianhydride-toluene complex and p.dicyanobenzene-cr-rnethyInaphthalene complex at room temperature. All spectra can be well reproduced by a superposition of the bandsof the acceptor anion and the donor dimer cation. The fluorescent state of these systems is deemed to be a i:2 @;A-) complex.

Excited singlet-singlet absorption spectra of aromatic charge-transfer complexes have been recorded using pulsed-laser excitation. The spectra (obtained for the tetracyanobenzene-toluene, tetracyanobenzene-benzene and pyromellitlcdianhydride-mesitylene systems) are practically identical with those o
