✦ Synopsis
The transition metal dichalcogenides and intercalated compounds fall into the category of two-dimensional solids in which there is a great deal of interest at present. The structural study [l] of the intercalated compounds TiS2 with Fe and Li shows the expansion in the c-direction:
the sandwich (S-Ti-S) repeat distance along the c axis increases from 5.69 A in TiS2 to 5.71 8, in Feo.tSTiS:! (l), 6.11 8, in Lb.77Feo lsTiS2 (2) and 6.19 A in Lit_oTiS2. After exposure to air the value of c in (2) decreases, this fact may be due to the Li removing from a van der Waals gap. EXAFS-spectra above the K-edge of Fe in the samples (l), ( 2) and ( 3) were recorded at room temperature at the in-lab spectrometer with varied curvature bent crystal [2].
