Abstract

The oil obtained by hydrodistillation from the aerial parts of Hyssopus officinalis L. subsp. angustifolius (Bieb.) Arcangeli from Turkey was analysed by GC–MS. Thirty‐four components were characterized, representing 91.0% of the total components detected. The major constituents were identified as pinocarvone (36.3%), pinocamphone (19.6%), β‐pinene (10.6%), 1,8‐cineole (7.2%) and isopinocamphone (5.3%). Copyright © 2005 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
