The programme at the Annual Conferences of The Ergonomics Society appears to get increasingly comprehensive. This year there were ten main sessions, with a total of 31 papers. In addition, there was an opening address by Prof A.J. Willcocks, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham, six p
manual work, and this applies especially to the spine. It has also been suggested that certain types of work involving stooping to lift heavy weights may lead to chronic bronchitis. Dr Troup went on to give a few guidelines when designing work involving materials handling.
