✦ Synopsis

We report relevant spectroscopy and efficient diodepumped ∼ 2.7-μm laser operation of Er 3+ :Y2O3 ceramic resonantly pumped into upper laser level 4 I 11/2 . This is believed to be the first laser demonstration based on 4 I 11/2 → 4 I 13/2 transitions of Er 3+ in Y2O3. Emission cross section, ×10 -19 cm 2 0.8 0.6 0.4 0.2 0 1.0 1.2

Reported here is the first cryogenically-cooled performance of Er 3+ -doped Y2O3 laser based on 4 I 11/2 → 4 I 13/2 transitions. Laser material was diode-pumped directly into an upper laser manifold 4 I 11/2 in order to minimize quantum defect of this Mid-IR laser. CW output power of over 1.6 W at ∼

We describe the output performances of the 1.35 μm 4 F 3/2 → 4 I 13/2 transition in Nd-doped Sr3Ga2Ge4O14 (SGG) under in-band pumping with diode lasers at the 879 nm wavelength, directly into the 4 F 3/2 emitting level. An end-pumped Nd:SGG crystal yielded 7.1 W of continuous-wave (CW) output power

We report on the first achievement of tunable two-band ``one-micron'' CW oscillation in the ^2^F~5/2~ → ^2^F~7/2~ channel of Yb^3+^ activator ions in Sc~2~O~3~ ceramics with CW laser-diode pumping, as well as on results of precise measurement of the refractive index and its dispersion in spectral ra
