A sensltlve kmetlc enzymatic method for the mdnndual and Joint determmatlon of lower straight-cham alcohols IS reported The method IS based on reaction of the alcohols Hrlth the alcohol dehydrogenase-mcotmamlde adenme dmucleotlde system, which IS momtored by measurmg the mltlal rate of change of the absorbance or fluorescence mtenslty of the reduced coenzyme formed by usmg the stopped-flow techmque Methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol can thus be determmed over the range 3 0 X 10-*-l 0 X 10m6 M with a relatrve standard devtation of ca 12-3 8% Spectrofluonmetnc measurements are better suded to the mdlvldual determmatlons, whereas spectrophotometnc measurements are more useful for resolvmg alcohol mmtures usmg the Kahnan filter algonthm Mixtures of methanol-butanol, ethanol-butanol and methanol-propanol at the submxromolar level were successfully resolved v&h errors of less than 10%

A new approach to the indirect kinetic catalytic determination of organic compounds is reported. It involves the selective organic-solvent extraction of the chelate formed between a suitable metal ion and the organic compounds concerned, which is followed by backextraction of the metal ion into aque
The enhancing effect of thenoyltrifluoroacetone on the fluorescence intensity of the E&II)-tetracycline system in the presence of Triton X-100 was studied by using equilibrium and kinetic measurements. This ligand significantly improves the sensitivity of equilibrium methods for tetracycline determi
