The first examples of enantioselective addition of anthrones to a,b-unsaturated aldehydes are disclosed.

The reaction was performed at À40 °C achieving high yields and enantioselectivities.

A highly enantioselective organocatalytic oxindole addition to a,b-unsaturated aldehydes is reported. The reaction is catalyzed by simple and commercially available chiral secondary amines, affording the corresponding adducts with good yields and with moderate diastereoselectivities.
