## Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine whether a histologic grading system consisting of 2 or 3 categories had better discrimination for predicting metastasis-free survival in extremity soft-tissue sarcoma. Methods: One hundred thirty patients with nonmetastatic s
## BACKGROUND. Preoperative staging of localized extremely soft tissue sarcoma (STS) includes tumor grade, size, and depth. A positive microscopic margin (PMM) adds prognostic information postoperatively, which is not helpful for preoperative stratification into low and high risk groups. This stud
## Abstract ## BACKGROUND. The benefit of chemotherapy in the treatment of primary softβtissue sarcoma (STS) is controversial. To the authors' knowledge, few studies to date have examined the effect of chemotherapy in patients undergoing pulmonary resection for metastatic STS of the extremity. ##
300 patients with extremity soft tissue sarcomas (STS) were entered into treatment protocols at the National Cancer Institute. Using the Cox proportional hazards model, the STS were analyzed for independent prognostic variables that had significant association with disease-free and overall survival.
